Our Practice
We are consulting hypnotists in good standing with the National Guild of Hypnotists.
We practice in accordance with the Code of Ethics, Standards of Practice and Recommended Terminology of the National Guild of Hypnotists, and we give a comprehensive Client Bill of Rights which fully discloses our training and the limits of our practice.
We believe that through hypnotism we can help you tap into your own abilities to achieve your goals, as well as develop a more positive understanding of yourself.

What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a state of mind of intense imagination and concentration. When you were a kid, you were able to lose yourself in your imagination while you were playing. You knew what was happening for real and yet you were able to let your thoughts carry you away.
Hypnosis can be thought of as an intense daydream, during which you are very open to new ideas that you can make your own in terms of changing your habits and the way you look at things. In that sense, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. The hypnotist guides you towards your self improvement. A hypnotized person is completely aware of what is happening but feels so relaxed and so good, continuing to allow the hypnotist to be a guide, listening to the affirmations the hypnotist gives. At any time during a hypnosis session you are able to stop. You are always in control.
Who can be hypnotized? Can I be hypnotized? Since hypnosis involves "losing yourself in your imagination" anyone can be hypnotized, but not everyone can be hypnotized to the same deep level, at least not without continued practice and training. However, it appears that even being hypnotized "lightly" can be effective for helping you make changes in your life. You can begin with simple relaxation and develop your ability to go into hypnosis.
What if I can't come out of it? Have you ever known anyone who did not snap out of a day dream? There is no danger of being "stuck" in hypnosis.
How many sessions will it take? This is going to depend, because while many clients will experience immediate change (for example, will immediately quit smoking) the change may not be a deep one. Old habits like to reassert themselves and new habits need time to grow roots. We suggest that clients think about 3-4 sessions. Some clients may later decide to use hypnosis to work on other issues in their lives and so they stay on for additional sessions. Some clients resolve their issue in one session and are able to go forward.
Will you make me do goofy things? It's true that we do stage shows and other hypnosis demonstrations, mostly as a way of advertising the practice. But the stage-show stuff is left on the stage and we don't do any in our office. That being said, we want you to have fun with this and give you the best hypnotic experience of creativity and vivid imagination, not unlike what you might experience if you were participating in a stage show.
Again, you are always in charge and can stop anytime. You would not do anything under hypnosis that you would not be willing to do anyway. Just like when you were a kid, you couldn't be made do anything you did not want to while you were day dreaming or play pretending with your friends.
Do you accept insurance? No, sorry. There is no payer that currently covers hypnotism in general, though there are exceptions. If you have a flexible spending account, it's possible the company that administers it may reimburse you for hypnotism that helps you quit smoking, or for cases where your doctor gives you a note or prescription, hypnotism for achieving weight loss or managing other health issues. You'll have to discuss that with your company's plan administrator.

Habit ChangeYou give into your old habits, maybe in part because you cannot picture yourself any other way.
It is possible for you to live your life as if you have never been a smoker. It is possible for you to live your life without feeling you must overeat. Hypnotism can help you replace negative, destructive habits with positive, healthful habits. You will amaze yourself as you begin to experience the new you. |
Sports PerformanceAthletes can let themselves get in their own way.
Hypnotism can help you the athlete get back in touch with the joy of the sport, and learn to block out distracting thoughts. Getting past "plateauing" and other performance challenges can be achieved through the use of visualization. |
Complementary-Medical Hypnotism
Hypnotism can help patients through the difficult treatments that many disease demand. Management of patient's pain by increasing endurance, and of patient's morale and outlook by increasing sense of control, can lead to higher quality of life.
Related: Hypnotism can help care givers weather the stress and demands of caring for loved ones. |
Learn to Forget
With mindfulness training, we focus only on what is important and make what hurt us in the past unimportant. We put those things safely away in our minds. They are there if for whatever good reason we ever need them again.
Self hypnosis training is mindfulness training. We can work with you to teach you this skill overall. We can work with you regarding specific events that may be troubling you. |
Emergency Hypnotism
You as the professional are treating the injured in emergency situations. Words you use have power and consequences. Your phrasing and your demeanor can be like hypnotic suggestions to an injured person. Learning the "patter" and mannerisms of hypnotism potentially avoids negative suggestions to patients while reinforcing their compliance as you treat them.

Thank You
Thank you veterans, active duty military, and first responders. Here at FRMS Hypnosis, we consider it our calling to assist you. Many of our services are available free or low cost to veterans and active-duty military. (We do ask for donations for ability to pay based on rank, if you are also active duty.) We extend a similar courtesy to all first responders (firefighters, medical, law enforcement). Sessions for habit change, for building motivation (for example, getting back to the gym and exercise more) or building self-esteem (for treating yourself better), our services could be free for you. Sessions for complimentary-medical hypnosis could be free or low-cost, depending upon your needs and goals. We also offer sessions on learning self-hypnosis and other techniques to help manage stress and to manage memories of difficult experiences, also free or low-cost. We always offer a free consultation session (about 30 minutes) for you to assess us and whether hypnosis would be something you would want to explore. We can discuss details with you then. Even at full price, our sessions are affordable. Sessions are specific to you. We offer presentations that are overviews. They are available to veterans, active duty and first responders (and their organizations) for free:
Hypnotism helps you re-assert control over your life and manage issues you may have, or helps you achieve goals you have been wanting to achieve. A willingness on your part to commit to working with us may be all you need to be on your way. |

A hypnotist is not a mental-healthcare professional. We are regular people helping you with problems that may seem extraordinary to you -- using the extraordinary power of your own mind.
When you go to a hypnotist's office, you are not "going to see a shrink" with all the issues and implications that "seeing a shrink" has. A hypnotist is a trainer. There are personal trainers for your body. We are trainers for your mind.
At FRMS Hypnosis, we are extremely sensitive to the issue of "stolen valor". We ask your patience with us if we ask you to show a military or VA identification card, or a badge when you are representing yourself as active duty, veteran or first responder. Thanks in advance for that.
